Palo Alto, CA - Accel Partners, a leading Silicon Valley venture capital firm, today announced the addition of In Sik Rhee to their Palo Alto office as a Venture Partner. In Sik brings significant entrepreneurial experience and deep knowledge in the software and enterprise markets.

In Sik previously co-founded two successful startup companies. He was most recently a Co-Founder and Chief Tactician at Opsware (NASDAQ: OPSW), formerly Loudcloud, which recently announced its intention to be acquired by HP for $1.6 Billion. In this role, he helped guide the evolution of the data center automation product category and also spearheaded several successful acquisitions such as Rendition Networks.

Prior to Opsware, In Sik co-founded Kiva Software Corporation, a pioneer of the J2EE Application Server market. He architected and developed one of industry’s first Java application servers, deployed by customers such as E*Trade and Bank of America. Kiva was acquired by Netscape Communications in 1997.

“We are very excited to have In Sik as our Venture Partner. Enterprise software and data center infrastructure have always been cornerstone investment areas for Accel and In Sik’s deep experience in these areas will further extend our presence,” said Ping Li, General Partner at Accel.

In addition to serving as an Advisor and Board Member to Accel portfolio companies, In Sik will focus on new investment opportunities in Software and Digital Entertainment. Accel continues to build upon its successful heritage of companies in these sectors (i.e. Veritas, Macromedia, JBoss) with more recent category defining companies such as, XenSource, Acopia, BitTorrent, Zimbra, among others.

In Sik holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from UC Berkeley, and is the recipient of the 2004 Distinguished Engineering Alumni Young Leader Award.
